On the basis of the volumes it exchanges, the SIT is one of the world's leading clearing systems.

In 2007, the SIT exchanged and cleared 12.439 billion interbank transactions drafted in euros (+1.10 % relative to 2006), for an amount of 5,206.95 billion euros (+0.70 % relative to 2006).
