What are the relations between the GSIT and the
Groupement des Cartes Bancaires CB (GCB)?
The GCB and the GSIT are two Economic interest groupings created by
the banks. They have distinct missions, but permanent cooperative links
exist given that their geographical proximity encourages the pooling of
means.
Through the Interbank Teleclearing System, the GSIT looks after the
exchanges and netting of all bulk and small amount automated means of
payment operations, including card operations (payments and withdrawals).
The GCB looks after the aspects related to interbancarity,
interoperability and the security of bank cards in France. The GCB also
manages the network (RSB) used for authorizations. All aspects related
to bank cards are handled by the “CB” Bank Cards Consortium (GCB) in
France.
